About psychotherapist Annemarie Keet
Who am I?
I am Annemarie Keet, BIG registered Psychotherapist, GZ psychologist, Cognitive Behavioral Therapist and I am almost finished with the training to become a Schema Therapist. After my psychology studies in Amsterdam, I worked for 7 years at the university as a teacher and study advisor. Since then I have worked for 18 years at various large mental health institutions.
How do I work?
At the start of the treatment, we use one or more sessions to formulate a treatment goal together and we try to discover what is going on. What issues or patterns are you facing? Are these issues or patterns related to recent experiences, or to experiences from childhood? Are you naturally more introvert or more extrovert? What are your strong qualities that can help you to change?
I use the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Schema Therapy, or AFT to better understand your problems, depending on what is most appropriate for the problem or what you feel most comfortable with. The treatment can be short-term or longer-term, if necessary. If you want to work on tackling long-standing patterns in contact with other people or in the area of self-image, treatment will often take a little longer.
I regularly work with experiential exercises from Schema Therapy, such as imaginations, because this can lead to major emotional changes. Because psychological problems often exist in contact with other people, I would like to invite you to involve one or more important people from your environment in the treatment. As a therapist, I have particular experience in treating anxiety and mood disorders, childhood trauma, assertiveness problems and personality problems.
What kind of therapy do I offer?
I am trained in various forms of treatment, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Schema Therapy and Affect Phobia Therapy. Schema Therapy forms the basis of my approach. Schema Therapy is a form of treatment that assumes that early learning experiences in conjunction with temperament can lead to dysfunctional schemas (pitfalls) that are important in the development of persistent anxiety and mood disorders or personality problems. I use both group therapy and individual therapy.
English-speaking clients can contact me.
What kind of therapist am I?
As a therapist, I am optimistic, investigative, understanding, sincere and patient. I like to investigate with you what the problem is, until we both understand what is going on. I also pay attention to your strengths. I assume that you know best what you feel and what you need. Although difficult topics can regularly be discussed in the treatment, I think it is important that the atmosphere in the therapy can also be light-hearted. Together we can look for a path that suits you to achieve change.
BIG registration Annemarie Keet: 89913565425 (GZ psychologist) and 19913565416 (psychotherapist).
