“Therapy is tailored to your needs and to what suits you. I ensure a safe environment for you to take the steps you wish to take.”
These are themes that are very valuable to me and also play an important role in working with others.
I grew up in a family where there was a lot of focus on empathy and awareness. This led me to start contemplating big life questions at an early age. I was always empathetic and found it interesting to ask deep questions in order to view the world from different perspectives, searching for my place in the big picture. Joy and playfulness were an important part of this as well. Even now, I view life as a great adventure, where obstacles can be turned into lessons.
When I was nine years old, I moved with my family to Sweden, a country full of nature and freedom. Coming back to the Netherlands was a big change. I experienced this as a much busier place, where the focus was more on performance. In my search for what I considered ‘good enough’, I developed burnout symptoms when I was sixteen. I had become so caught up in my head and in my action mode, that I ignored the ‘whispers’ of my body until it had to ‘shout’ to pull me back. This led to a journey of finding balance in my life, self-acceptance and feeling safe within myself, a remarkable process that gave me manu valuable insights.
It has made me realize that I can no longer see the body and mind as separate entities and I deeply value the messages that the body can give us. Now, I find great joy in helping others understand the language of their bodies. It is truly special to find your own strength and to live by it. It’s a journey you do not have to take alone. Sometimes you just need that one person to help you gain an external perspective on the inner world you’re navigating. I am here to help you with that. You are not alone.
Psychomotor therapy, or PMT, is an experience-based form of therapy. Through sports and games, I create situations where patterns in thinking, feeling and behavior can emerge and be discussed. This deepens self-awareness and opens up opportunities to experiment with new thoughts and behaviors. You learn not only through your rational mind, but also through your body and actions.
During therapy you can learn which specific body signals let you know what you are feeling and what you need in different situations to be in your power. Various psychological approaches such as Cognitive behavioral therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schematherapy, etc. are incorporated. The therapy is tailored to your needs and to what suits you. I ensure a safe environment for you to take the steps you wish to take.
