Vision

In my experience, if you are running into problems, there are two important conditions that are needed to improve your situation. First of all understanding: understanding what your problems are, what causes them, and what influence your situation has. We also investigate your strengths, which may reduce or counteract your problems. Together we investigate this and I can provide explanation if necessary. Sometimes this is enough to be able to move on!

Secondly, trust is important: trust that your problems can improve, that the treatment will help you, and trust in me as your psychologist. That is why I think it is important that we are aligned: we take steps that we both support.

My style

I am open and without judgment, you can tell me anything. People have indicated that they quickly feel safe and familiar with me. My attitude is empathetic, humorous, optimistic and direct. I use proven techniques with a positive approach and would like to encourage you to get as much as possible out of the treatment. Sometimes I pull you (a little) out of your comfort zone to make change possible, in which I like to encourage and support you. Every step is an achievement!

Background

I knew for a long time that I wanted to help people, but I never thought I wanted to do a university study. When I was nearing the end of the HBO Social Pedagogical Care, I noticed that I wanted much more! The work I did was nice, but I wanted to go deeper as a therapist. I needed more knowledge and I completed the master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Leiden University. Once in the field, I still haven’t finished learning, I take many courses to further expand my knowledge and experience.

Working as a psychologist is truly my dream job. It is fascinating to get to know my clients on a deeper level, and to connect to their wishes and needs as best as possible. It is wonderful to see how the puzzle pieces fall into place, I get excited when (a seemingly small) progress has been achieved.

Methods

In treatments I use Cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, mindfulness and schema therapy techniques. I have experience with trauma, compulsion, anxiety, worrying, self-image, sadness, addiction and personality.

I do both individual and group treatments. English-speaking clients can also contact me.
