“I listen with warm interest, without judging.”

My name is Sylvana Koene, BIG-registered GZ psychologist. My work is valuable to me, because it is satisfying to contribute to someone’s well-being, in a modest way.
Life beliefs
At a young age I already knew I wanted to be a psychologist. I was always interested in various life beliefs. I became fascinated by different forms of Buddhism, meditation and the work of Byron Katie, for example. And also by Louise Hay, Brandon Bays and Almaas with his Diamond Approach. This affects the way I work. I discovered therapeutic ways of working such as ACT and mindfulness. In my work I also use techniques from cognitive therapy, hypnotherapy, EMDR, voice dialogue, psychodrama and body-oriented forms of therapy.
Understood and heard
I like the motto ‘practice what you preach’ and work continuously on my own themes, personal and professional growth. Very often people tell me that during our conversations they feel understood and heard and that this gives them a good feeling. I listen with warm interest, without judging. I’m honest, open and straightforward in a tactful way. Often I hear that people find it pleasant that there’s also place for humor during our conversations. Personal development and growth are important and I see ‘problems and symptoms’ as opportunities to learn more from yourself and others. At the same time, I like to use practical solutions where possible and I support the idea of not making the problem bigger than it is.
English-speaking clients can also contact me.
