When you are gloom, you have feelings of listlessness and you don’t feel like doing anything. The negative thoughts affect your life. Yet there are some things you can do yourself to end the negative spiral and help the gloom symptoms disappear. They seem like simple and obvious tips, but when you feel gloomy it is often difficult to make to it.
If you suffer from mild or moderate gloom, you may be able to overcome your gloom with the tips above. If this does not work, it is wise to ask for psychological help. With professional support you can get rid of your gloom, but you can also prevent your symptoms from getting worse and that the gloom slowly turns into a depression.
Don’t be ashamed of your sad and gloomy feelings. Unfortunately, this happens regularly, and people wait too long to seek help. People think they have to live the perfect life: perform, be happy and have everything right. Often an attempt is made to hide the symptoms for as long as possible, which will only make the symptoms worse.
It is therefore important to seek help in time. As with physical problems, treatment can become more difficult the longer you wait and the duration of the treatment will then increase.
During the treatment we identify the cause of your sadness, which symptoms you have and how this affects your daily life. The goal of the treatment is that you find again the energy to do things and that you regain the pleasure in life.
Therapy can also help if your sadness is caused by a major event that is difficult for you to deal with, such as the death of a loved one, a divorce or loss of work.
If it is clear which factors influence your complaints, we can adjust the treatment accordingly.
Since gloom and depression are in line with each other, the same forms of therapy are generally used for gloom as for depression. Check the Depression treatment page to see which forms of therapy are possible. The therapy is of course tailored to your needs and symptoms.
